For anyone curious about the LODSettings file, many of the SKMs define their LOD sizes and bones in a separate file. The one linked above is for all player characters, but ridden will have their own. Some of them you may be able to fully replace with a newly generated one, but you're better off using an existing one if you want your model to be compatible with others that use the same LODSettings.
