How to paint minis for D&D sessions, super fast and simple for beginners!
#paintingtips #tabletopgaming #dungeonsanddragons
When it comes to playing D&D, I like to be able to see a physical representation of the game in front of me. Whether that's a model of my character, a mini dungeon tile board, or seeing the big bad bosses I have to try conquer with my friends, having the 3D element to the game helps me focus and understand what's happening much more easily! This can be a lot of work if you're having weekly sessions and you're the poor DM who has to provide all these battles as well as writing an epic tale! I used a beautiful Dragonborn model from @dragontrapperslodge5730 to show you how easily and quickly you can add models to your sessions, without spending too much money, or precious time! Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions after reading the paint guide, let me know!

Paint guide:
Primers in rattle/spray cans:
GW Chaos Black
GW Grey Seer (lighter coat)
FAQ:Adding a light spray of Grey Seer over a full coat of black primer adds a small amount of texture to the primer which gives the contrast paint more to grip on to. It also adds light and shadows which helps define the model more. You need to prime your models or the paint won't stick to the model!
Contrast or speed paints are very easy to apply and a great consistency to apply colours to your models very quickly. I use Games Workshop Citadel paints in many of my tutorials because they are very easy to buy and many people know them. If you have acrylic paints at home, you can use those instead.
Mantis Warriors Green (contrast)
Leadbelcher (base)
Retributor Armour (base)
Flesh Tearers Red (contrast)
Skeleton Horde (contrast)
Nuln Oil (shade)
The Nuln Oil shade is applied to the whole model to add some shadows and make the model look less flat. It also helps seal the paint job so it will last for as many sessions as you want!
You can easily swop out any of the colours and follow the same steps in the same order for your own models. Pick and choose what you like from tutorials to suit the model in your head, and always ask questions if you have any!
