Pig Latin is a language game in which words in English are altered according to a simple set of rules. The objective is to conceal the words from others not familiar with the rules.

The rules are as follows:

1. For words that begin with a consonant sound, move the initial consonant or consonant cluster to the end of the word and add "ay."

Examples:

pig → igpay

latte → attellay

2. For words that begin with a vowel sound or a silent letter, simply add "ay" to the end of the word.

Examples:

egg → eggay

in → inay

3. For words that end with "y" preceded by a consonant, move the "y" to the end of the word and add "ay."

Examples:

happy → appyhay

cry → cryay

4. For words that end with "y" preceded by a vowel, simply add "ay" to the end of the word.

Examples:

buy → buyay

lay → layay
