Whether your realize it or not, you likely have hundreds of passwords associated with online accounts you've created. Even if you use a password manager or have a thoughtful system for managing your passwords, it can be overwhelming, and still possible to find yourself without the right password. Thankfully, if you forget your ChatGPT password, OpenAI makes it easy to reset it and get back into your account.
Now let's walk through the steps to reset your OpenAI ChatGPT password if you forgot it.
Step 1. Open a web browser and then navigate to https://chat.openai.com. You'll land on the OpenAI ChatGPT sign in screen.
Step 2. Enter the email address associated with your ChatGPT account, and then click "Continue." The next screen prompts you to enter your ChatGPT password.
Step 3. Click "Forgot Password." A Reset Your Password screen is displayed.
Step 4. Enter the email address associated with your ChatGPT account, and then click "Continue." The next screen prompts you to check the email account associated with your ChatGPT account.
Step 5. Open an email with a subject line that says "Change password for OpenAI." Click the "Reset Password" button in the body of this email. You'll be taken to a Reset Your Password screen.
Step 6. Enter what you want to be your new ChatGPT password in both the New Password and Re-enter New Password fields, and then click "Reset Password." The next screen confirms that your ChatGPT password has been changed. You'll use your new password to log in to your ChatGPT account going forward.
