Hey Guys! I wanted to go over how to setup OBS! I really want to help people navigate this software as it definitely can be challenging at first to figure out like any new software. OBS is used to stream on multiple different platforms such as Twitch Youtube and Facebook but it can also be a good source to record your gameplay which is what I do! In this video I will do a grassroots approve to being able to set this up for the first time and setting up your first scene. If this video does provide you a ton of value and helps you get your first stream going let me know in the comments below and make sure to smash that Sub button so that you can see more of my content as its released!

1. Where to Download OBS - You will need to head over to obsproject.com. When on the main page it will give you multiple options on which device that you are using Windows MAC or Linux. Once you pick which platform to download it for it will begin the download process and then follow the menus to get it downloaded!

2. Basic Layout - On the bottom left you will see Scenes that you are able to flip through while you are live streaming or recording. Then to the right of it you will see Sources that contains items like your microphone and media to video Sources. Next to that is going to be your audio mixer and this is where you can adjust the audio db in case a game is too loud or anything. Then we have the scene Transition option menu that you can change how each scene transitions into another. Then the last one on the far right is the controls panel which you will be using a lot to go live or record! Then the main black screen above is going to reflect what your viewers will see on the stream or video!

3. General Settings - First off lets go over the General Settings. A lot of the options in this menu I just leave as default. However there are 2 options that i feel a majority of people will use. The first one that you would want to have a look at if it doesnt automatically deafult to is the Dark mode because that is the only sensible scene lol. And the second option that you can look into is the "Automatically Record When Streaming", this option is very good to use as it is the raw footage that you are streaming and can be good for using in youtube videos

4. Stream Settings - This panel is very key. This is the service that you will be streaming out to. They have a lot of options that you can use but the main three i can see that are used in the indutry currently are Twitch, Youtube, and Facebook. You would want to click on your main platform and follow the prompts that the individual platform would want you to follow. I know that for youtube you need to get your stream key from the Go live portion of your youtube that you can just copy and paste from that page. Once you do that you are connected to that platform and can eventually hit the start streaming button!

5. Output Settings - This is another key panel for you in streaming. At the top is the Output Mode Simple or Advanced but more on that a little bit later. First the Streaming area that contains the Video Bitrate is going to highly depend on your Upload speed of your internet and what it can handle! I will show a chart that will go over a generalization of where you would want your bitrate at for each quality setting. The panel on the left is also going to show you where you would want your upload speed to be at for each video bitrate! Do not go more then what your upload can handle as that will cause frame drop and lower quality streams. Now the next portion to go over is the Encoder. You have a couple different options, Software (x264) or Hardware (NVENC). Now this really depends on what you have in your setup. For me i have a 2 pc setup so it would be ok to use the NVENC on my stream pc. However, if you have only one computer and this is your gaming pc I have found from my streaming friends it can overload that one video card a lot. From my personal experience that x264 is the best encoder to use to date but you can mess around with the settings and see what best fits you! Audio Bitrate you can leave alone as that is good by default.

*I was not able to include all tips in text form due to too much room needed! But ask if you have any questions! *
