How to solve the Hanayama Cast Duet - solution (spoilers!)
15In this video I will try and show you my solution to the Hanayama Cast Duet, how to solve it and take it apart in 2 minutes and put it back together again.
This puzzle is actually one of the earlier puzzles that I solved. It is a 5-star puzzle which means it is rather difficult. I never did a proper solution video for this puzzle due to the complicated steps it required to memorise, and also did not have the inspiration on how to present it gracefully and clearly. Until now.
With the recent attempts to do solution videos without narrative, I realise this puzzle will be a perfect one for this type of layout. No narrative, only visual clues. The solution of this puzzle is actually rather elegant, as I mentioned earlier it requires quite a lot of steps but when presented like so it should be simple to follow.
The donut ring actually splits into two halves, and each requires a different route (the first half of the path) before reaching the top right corner, which they will then follow the same path to exit this double sided maze.
Picking this up after almost a year felt refreshing, and I continue to admire Hanayama's choices for their puzzles, simple, small and compact, yet packing a lot of puzzling in each of their puzzles. This one is no exception.
