Sorting data in Google Sheets is a quick and efficient way to organize information, whether alphabetically, numerically, or by other criteria. Sorting can help you analyze data more effectively, especially when dealing with large datasets.

To begin sorting in Google Sheets, follow these simple steps:

1. First, open the spreadsheet and select the column or range you want to sort. It is important to select the entire column, not just individual cells, to ensure that all relevant data gets sorted together.
2. Once the column is highlighted, right-click on the column header (e.g., column A, B, etc.). This will open a context menu.
3. From the options, choose whether you want to sort the data alphabetically (A to Z) or in reverse alphabetical order (Z to A). For numbers, this option will work similarly for ascending (smallest to largest) or descending (largest to smallest).
4. If you need to sort multiple columns while keeping their corresponding rows intact, you can highlight the entire data range before sorting.

This simple method applies to both text and numbers. Additionally, you can sort data by custom values or based on specific conditions using the "Data" tab at the top of the Google Sheets interface.
