143Timing is a very funny thing. I just did a video on Thrill Drive working in MAME via emulation finally and said I'd spent over a year searching for a board! Well look what has arrived! An original Konami NWK-TR arcade board for Thrill Drive! One issue...it won't boot! Retrogaming means REPAIRING things. So follow along as I give you a 101 level course in troubleshooting, repairing and how to find issues with arcade PCBs...whether they are JAMMA, JVS or somewhere in between!

The Konami NWK-TR board plays three racing games; Racing Jam, Racing Jam Chapter 2 and Thrill Drive. Conveniently enough all three games NEVER got ported to home consoles! So getting original hardware fixed and running is hugely important! So many of these boards "broke" in easily fixable ways but they were throw in the trash by arcade operators...making this board one of the rarest Konami games around! It's a giant mess of PowerPC chips and DUAL 3DFX GPU's. Really anything could be wrong with it! Plus Konami loved using real time clock RAM chips that are powered by a battery...and when the battery goes flat...poof...board won't boot due to a security key check! But let's not get ahead of ourselves...first we need to diagnose the problem!
Note: This is in part specific to this board but the troubleshooting / problem finding / how to handle and examine a printed circuit board / PCB portion is relevant for any arcade board, game console...or basically anything electronic! So follow along :)
