Google Chrome's autofill feature makes it easy to sign into websites, populate your address, fill in your credit card information, and more. However, this may not be so great if you're on a shared computer and don't want other people to be able to easily get into your personal accounts or have access to use your credit card. Thankfully, Google makes it easy to disable the various parts of the autofill feature.

Now let's walk through the steps turn off autofill in the Google Chrome desktop app.

Step 1. Launch Google Chrome, and then click the vertical ellipses at the top of the screen to open a menu.

Step 2. Click "Settings" in that menu. The Google Chrome Settings screen is displayed.

Step 3. Click "Autofill" in the menu on the left side of the screen. Autofill options are shown on the right side of the screen.

Step 4. Click "Passwords." A screen displaying autofill options associated with passwords is shown.

Step 5. Use the toggle next to the top two options on this screen to choose whether you want Google Chrome to offer to save passwords, and also choose whether you want to automatically sign in to any sites and apps where Google Chrome has your login information stored.

Step 6. Navigate back to the Autofill screen and then click "Payment Methods." A screen showing payment methods autofill options is shown.

Step 7. Use the toggle to turn off the ability for Google Chrome to save and autofill your payment methods, and also choose whether you want to allow sites to check to see if you have payment methods saved.

Step 8. Navigate back to the Autofill screen and then click "Addresses and More."

Step 9. Use the toggle on this screen to turn off the ability for Google Chrome to save and autofill information associated with your saved addresses.

Any changes you make will be effective immediately.
