By default Windows has mouse acceleration turned on. For casual computer use mouse acceleration isn't an issue, however when it comes to in game precision and accuracy it's best to turn it off.

You can disable mouse acceleration through the Windows mouse pointer options. The option is called "Enhance pointer precision" in the additional mouse settings. To turn off mouse accerlation you want the box to be unchecked.
