HP LaserJet Pro 4201DN Quick Overview and Review
Quick review of my initial impressions of the HP LaserJet Pro 4201DN Printer
Delivers impressive print quality in both black-and-white and color prints. Text is sharp, colors are accurate, and there's consistency across different document types, including text, graphics, and photos.
This printer boasts fast printing speeds, with both black and colored pages printing at up to 35 pages per minute (ppm). This meets and even exceeds expectations, especially when compared to entry-level laser printers starting at around 20 ppm.
While the printer lacks built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, it can connect via Ethernet or USB. Setting it up via USB was straightforward and hassle-free, although Wi-Fi connectivity would have been a convenient addition for a home office setup.
The printer's trays (Tray 1 and Tray 2) accommodate various paper sizes, including legal, and support duplex printing. Tray 2's 250-sheet capacity (20lb paper) is adequate for most office needs, and the optional Tray 3 can add an additional 550-sheet capacity.
The control panel, operated via a dial, provides access to the printer's menu and settings. While functional, entering passwords can feel cumbersome without a conventional keypad. The screen quality is basic but functional, offering easy navigation.
The build quality of the printer is solid, with easy access to toner, trays, and the rear door. However, the menu screen could benefit from better build quality, and physical buttons would have been a preferable addition to the dial control.
The printer uses HP 210A or 210X toner cartridges, with the 210A black toner costing approximately $96 and yielding up to 2,000 pages, resulting in a cost of $0.048 per page. Purchasing both black and color 210A toner cartridges together costs about $429.99, resulting in a cost of $0.215 per page for 2,000 pages. While non-OEM options may offer cost savings, they may compromise quality and reliability.
The printer includes various security features, including admin credentials located near the toner cartridge, access restrictions for configuration settings, data security features, and protection against unauthorized access.
Energy conservation settings, including economode, sleep mode, and shutdown mode, contribute to reducing the printer's environmental footprint.
Multiple support channels, including phone support and an online portal. The printer comes with a one-year bench repair warranty for added peace of mind.
Combines excellent print quality, speed, and reliability, making it a solid choice for office environments.
