In the plot of Devil May Cry 1, demon hunter Dante is hired by Trish to stop the demon emperor Mundus, who is responsible for the deaths of Dante's mother and brother. On the mysterious Mallet Island, Dante explores an ancient castle and confronts his own brainwashed twin brother, Vergil, before defeating Mundus to avenge his family.
