I Built a New System For Playing Viewer Levels! (Twitch & YouTube)
I've been wanting to solve this problem for years! In this update, I'm nerding out about a new system I'm incredibly excited about: a unified level queue that lets viewers from both Twitch and YouTube add their Mario Maker levels to the same list.
For a long time, I struggled to find a fair way to play levels from viewers who are live in chat while also keeping a backlog of levels from people who couldn't stick around. Thanks to some Google Sheets magic, I've finally created a solution!
Here's how my new system works:
Fairness for Live Viewers: When you join a stream and submit a level, it goes into a fresh queue for that day. This means I'll be prioritizing the people who are actively watching!
A Universal Backlog: At the end of the stream, any unplayed levels are moved to a massive "backlog" queue. Your level will never be deleted!
Random Pulls: This backlog allows me to randomly pick and play levels from past streams, giving everyone's creation a chance to be featured, even if you can't make it to every stream.
Better Chances: The more you participate in streams, the more levels you can potentially have in the backlog, increasing your chances of being randomly selected.
My next big goal is to integrate TikTok chat as well!
Thank you all so much for helping the channel reach 15,000 subscribers! I can't wait to try this new system out with you in the next viewer level stream.
