Making content is really hard. Wouldn't it be amazing if we had a magic genie or maybe a wishing world go throw a coin into? Well, it's not that easy. Everything that you're listening to right now is coming off of a script that I wrote sitting in my living room typing on my laptop. But in just the moment, Grok is gonna take over. And he's going to use my very limited script to inform a whole YouTube video about whether or not AM4 is a viable platform in 2025. And that starts... (Upbeat Music)
Today, we're gonna be diving into a question that has been haunting PC builders everywhere. Is the AM4 platform still viable in 2025? I mean, look at this thing. It's been around longer than most TikTok trends and people are still swearing by it. So let's figure this out together. Stick around, grab some coffee, maybe some popcorn, probably not both at the same time. And let's dig right in. When AM4 dropped in 2017, it was the king of budget builds. Ryzen promised insane value and AMD delivered. But here we are eight years later and the tech world's moved on. AM5, DDR5, PCIe5, you get the trend. So why are people still cleaning to the socket like it's the last slice of pizza at a pizza party?
Okay, you got me, full disclosure. I'm still on AM4 and I'm probably gonna be on AM4 for a while, don't judge me. I'm still trying to figure out if it's some form of nostalgia, budgetary constraint, or if this platform really does have that much fight left in it.(...) AM4 is still the champ. The 5000 series in 2025 still slaps. And you can snag a 5,800X3D for peanuts compared to its AM5 counterparts. Pair that with DDR4 RAM, which let's be real is dirt cheap these days. And you've got a screaming value. And let's not forget, AM4 motherboards are literally everywhere. And you don't need to sell a kidney to build a PC. It's the people's system, democratic technology.
But is that gonna be enough?
Here's the truth. AM4 is starting to get long in the tune. With no DDR5 support, no PCIe5 support, AMD's all but moved on.
The new Ryzen chips are gonna be AM5 only. Why would you do that?
We're in the end game now. If you want the latest and greatest, like say ray tracing that doesn't completely tank your frame rate, you might feel left behind. Plus, future proofing is with AM5.
AM4 is more like present proofing. I mean, look, I get it. Nobody wants to be the guy still flexing a flip phone in 2025.
Right?
Whoa. Look at me, I've got AM4 and... and "Atamagachi".
But here's where it gets... What the f... is "Atamagachi"?
Is that a flip phone?(...) Hang on. I'm reading the script from Gronk, okay? I don't know what "Atamagachi" is.
Uh...
No way. I mean, I get it. Nobody wants to be that guy in 2025 still rocking a flip phone.
Look at me. I've got AM4 and a "Tamagachi".
So there you have it, AM4 in 2025. It's not dead yet, but I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to afford the plane tickets when I need to go to the funeral.
But, uh, yeah, no, I want to... I want to know what you think. Are you still team AM4? Did I convince you to jump ship and go to AM5? Drop a comment. I want to know your hot takes. I want to know... I really want to get in there and know your thoughts about this. If you like this video, hit the like button. If you haven't already, I'd like to invite you to hit the subscribe button and ring that bell. So that way you don't miss the next upload. We do work a little bit hard on these. And like I said in the beginning, it's not magic. And at this point, the Gronk script has run out.(...) Now I did use the Gronk script, but I did also modify a lot of it. So as it did help me, a lot of this did come from me. So I'm planning on doing more content like this in the future and I can't wait to see you there. Keep building, keep gaming,(...) and I'll see you in the next episode.(...) Goodbye.
