I lived on the west coast for 7 years and what I missed most was spring

So it’s true I missed my family, my mother, father, brother and niece
But when the birds start chirping I’m quite certain I love being back east

After months of death

You have to go through the darkness
To appreciate the sun

To have all the damage undone

So you can keep your desert palm trees
And your sunny all year round
You can keep your perfect tan bodies
And all your surfing summer sounds
Cuz all of that ain’t worth
One single jelly bean
When the long dark winter falls away
And we see the first little shoots of green
