I Solved the YouTube Adpocalypse
Although I've gotten off easier than most when it comes to unmonetization during the YouTube adpocalypse, it's been irritating me to see so many content creators I love hurt by it. Last night, I saw that Boogie2988 and Ricky Berwick were added to the list of YouTubers affected by the latest wave of unmonetizations. This got me thinking.
The narrative is that YouTube must unmonetize content that isn't advertiser friendly. However, I am a person who sometimes purchases ads through Google Adwords. I am an advertiser. I would gladly pay to advertise on any unmonetized videos of Boogie2988, Ricky Berwick, or any of the other creators I follow who were affected by this. In fact, if bigger companies are unwilling to advertise on these videos, less competition on Adwords bids means I would be able to get extremely cheap ad rates on these videos. And that's the solution.
Everybody wins with this plan- brands get to avoid being associated with what they consider to be objectionable content, people like me, who buy ads and don't mind, can get amazing rates, and then both the creators and YouTube themselves will be able to get SOME money from these videos.
