I think the addition of the AI 'Others' was a mistake
They just feel off, they aren't really worth hunting, and the fact that they 'smell' just makes players mistake them for other players too much. Also, they have no reason to have a human heart.
They just feel like a waste of time, especially due to their behavior of following players closely and just jumping onto them. Other than being able to break glass without getting aggroed, they are no different than the doggos, except that they are easier to deal with and cause the 'smell' effect.
Overall, I can only call them a nuisance, much like large caliber weapons. Speaking of those weapons, their ammo is literally the same as small caliber, just less stackable, and the stack being limited to only 50 is much more of an handicap than any advantage the gun brings, as players like to bring at least 100 rounds with them, and, with the gun, that would be 3 inventory slots. Not worth it at all, considering the Tarkov-like game style. We are going to the city to gather loot, not to hunt, not to mention that there is no point in hunting if we can't carry anything. Thus, small caliber has a huge advantage over large caliber, one stack being up to 150 rounds, and the base pistol, which doesn't occupy an inventory slot, using it. There are also REALLY deadly weapons that use those small calibers, in fact, most guns likely to be used in PvP do use small caliber, and for PvE, everything works, as enemy AI is really basic.
The only thing that's barely any good are the box and key features, in my opinion. And even then, the loot from those boxes aren't really that rewarding. Killing a large 'thing' feels much more rewarding, especially considering that they drop huge hearts.
In conclusion, I think the new updates really harmed variety in PvP, and how 'special' it feels to 'smell'. We used to know we were in danger when we 'smelled', now the most likely thing is that an AI 'other' is chasing us, and it won't stop until we deal with it. I think the game devs should work on new kinds of quests and inventory, equipment mechanics, as well as more focus on the apartment, instead of new enemies and ammo. And for ammo, I think it would be better if there'd be different types of ammo that do special stuff that can't be added with fertilizer, instead of different calibers of ammo.
On another note, all of the quests being either fetch or kill quests kind of hurts the gameplay. We need other, deeper goals, than just acquiring money, items, and other forms of currency. The first days, taking care of the plant while talking to the Abyss and speculating about what's going to happen next were the best parts of the game, as we had an exciting story to anticipate about, and we kept learning more about the Hell is Others universe while doing the quest, but after that, it is kind of just: go out, loot, hunt, come back, sell, repeat.
I like the game, I like its universe, I like the concept, the art style, and so on, and I don't want it to die.
