Thanks to NASA for inviting me to the launch as part of their NASA Social event!

Why I was the closest: The NASA Social group was given a site about a quarter-mile closer to the launch pad than the press. The way it worked, that meant we were the closest group. I stood about five feet closer to the pad than everyone else to get my cameras set up. There WERE NASA employees at some bunkers a little closer, but they were all sheltered, meaning I was the closest person to the pad out in the open. Close enough!
