I Won My First Game As Second Mover In Racing Kings Chess
I thought the second mover (black) had a disadvantage, but I realize maybe not. As long as you bait your opponent into exchanging pieces with you, you will get to move your king when his or her pieces are not in place. If you assume your opponent moves his king first turn, giving him a king mover advantage, then you have an attack piece first move advantage (at least that's my current analysis based on my current gameplay). Racing Kings Chess is a very interesting chess variation that has the victory condition of your king going to the end of the board (the 8th rank). You can't check a king directly, so you can only threaten check to limit a king's next set of moves. With these two rules in place, you can use your existing pieces to capture any other pieces. Your goal is to ensure smooth pathfinding so that your king can beat the other king to the end of the board. Also, if both the kings go to the end one after another, then that is a draw, so you can't just race him to the eighth first if your opponent is just one step behind with his or her king.
