The Me 163 "Komet" was another late war German attempt to curb the ferocious strategic bombing campaign that the Allies had set in motion. Constructed of wood and propelled using a rocket engine, the Me 163 was cheap, fast, and maneuverable. However, the Me 163 did have a fair number of issues. The volatility of its rocket fuel made fuel explosions a very real and frequent threat.
