Implicit Bias and Microaggressions: Bringing Your Whole Self to Work
“Can I touch your hair?” “So where are you REALLY from?” “So, what are you?” “Where are your wife and kids?” Everyday microaggressions have a way of creating and enforcing uncomfortable, violent and unsafe realities in the workplace. In this conversation, we will explore how brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, can create a toxic racial climate in the workplace, how Googlers of color can bring their most authentic selves to work, and how Googlers who identify with the dominant culture can make the workplace more culturally flexible.
Moderated by Michael Skolnik.
