4Ys X: Nordics delivers fast, fluid action combat that instantly hooked me, even if my short time with it didn’t allow for full experimentation. I enjoyed the optimism of protagonist Adol and the interesting dynamic that forms once he’s shackled to Karja, altering combat in meaningful ways. The game’s stylish battles and tight controls impressed me, but I wish it opened up sooner—I was eager to explore, complete side quests for the townspeople, and dive deeper into its systems. If you’re a fan of the Ys series or fast-paced JRPGs, this one looks promising.
