(Indoor) Zoom Comparison (Flip VS Handycam)
6This short, simple video is to both test the 1080p HD capabilities of my new Sony Handycam XR150 and to also show its 25x optical zoom versus the Flip Mino's weak 640x480 non-HD video resolution and 2x digital zoom. As you can see in this video, even with the slightly grainy indoor quality produced by the Handycam (outdoor quality is breathtaking in comparison), it's still way above the Flipcam in that you can literally zoom in on objects several feet away and read small text as if your face were stuck right in front of it.
Also worth noting is that this footage is in a highly compressed WMV format, so the quality is not quite as crisp as that of the uncompressed files produced by the camera itself. I've heard MPEG4 is a pretty good format to use, too, but I've been accustomed to WMV so I continue to use it. Any suggestions?
