Description:

Amalia and Illari are a pair of trackers from the Tulron Colony, with the former having to back up the latter's rule-breaking escapades. Illari is convinced that the colony is under attack by infiltrators, but is dismissed by his peers, who see him as a stereotypical idiot hero. But what if this idiot is right?

0:00 Cleaning the Academy

The cleaning minigame probably has an optimal strategy if you want to set a record, but for the most part, you can just do it repeatedly until you have enough tokens to buy the Augment from the shop. No matter how long you take, you win against Illari, since he tried to sneak out the window but go stuck. He wants to follow Clydan into the ruins and he won't join you for the rest of the day.

That night, Illari tells Amalia that he overheard Clydan planning to catch the infiltrators. Unfortunately, the infiltrators burst into the room, kidnap Illari, and tase Amalia. This is diverging quite a bit from the RM2K3 version.

The infiltrators knew Amalia would try to follow them, so they sic a bunch of slime monsters on her. Fortunately, Clydan joins the party to even the odds.

Clydan is supposed to be a tank character, but even he will die quickly if you aren't on top of your healing.

I just noticed that the camera can be rather slow to follow the player character in combat. This is extremely bad if you need to put distance between you and the enemy.

There are several train track puzzles that require you to switch tracks and push carts onto buttons.

40:43 Minecart Farming

There's a cart-riding minigame where you have to do platforming to get coins. However, there's no way to quickly restart your attempt other than quitting the game. The respawn points can also end up placing you in inconvenient spots rather than the start of the level. Fortunately, you can repeat this minigame to farm coins.

Use the minecart coins to buy the best equipment possible, since you'll face larger groups of goblins in later maps as well as a tough boss.

Eventually, you'll find a train being used by the infiltrators. How did no one notice the infiltrators dug a train tunnel under the village?

Clydan wants to report the train to the Guardians, but Amalia recklessly boards it, causing him to follow. You'll have to fight several infiltrators, who call themselves Soturi. Eventually, you'll meet an infiltrator that Clydan knows personally, Esteri. Worse yet, Esteri somehow turned Illari to his side.

Not only is this guy capable of deadly single-target attacks, his flunkies will throw bombs onto the roof. You cannot dodge these bombs and instead must attack and destroy them before they explode. Amalia should keep Clydan healed and attack the bombs while Clydan keeps Esteri busy. At the end of the battle, there was a glitch that prevented both Clydan and Esteri from moving from their respective positions, even after their stumble debuffs wore off.

Esteri uses cutscene powers to knock Clydan off the roof and leave Amalia hanging on the edge. Illari knocks her off while claiming he'll protect her.

The story has me intrigued and there are some interesting gameplay elements, but there are a lot of inconvenient aspects to the gameplay, like the lack of pausing when selecting attack/heal targets in combat, lack of ability to flee, lack of ability to set ally behavior, the camera moving too slowly compared to the player character, and the small number of save slots.
