Pedro Rodrigues, a partner at the consultancy and an oil and gas specialist, comments on the risks and impacts of Provisional Measure 1,307, known as the data center provisional measure, on the electricity sector.
In the 136th episode of "Infra in 1 Minute," Pedro Rodrigues analyzes how the provisional measure, which modernizes the ZPE (Export Processing Zone) regime, expands tax and regulatory incentives, and includes requirements for the use of renewable energy, could repeat past mistakes.
For the expert, the requirement that new companies use only renewable energy contracted from new plants—following the principle of additionality—does not apply to Brazil. "Our energy matrix is already one of the cleanest in the world, with over 85% renewable generation. This rule disregards our reality and creates unnecessary barriers," he states.
