Fighting games come in all sorts, ranging from the extremely graphic Mortal Kombat to the more cheerful Smash Brothers, and everything in between.
Major franchises such as Tekken, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive and Soul Calibur played major roles in the genre over the years.
When Injustice: Gods Among Us was added as a newcomer in the spring of 2013, I immediately had an impression that future versions of the name would be very welcome.
After all, Injustice 2 has a staggering amount of loot to collect, some of which can make a character much better (which obviously doesn't apply to the Ranked online mode). Not only is it cool to cosmetically customize our Batman, it's also cool to see him get better along the way.
It's almost as much fun to watch Injustice 2 as it is to play it, but that falls short of the gameplay.
Just like in the first Injustice, you mainly alternate light, medium and heavy attacks during combat, each linked to a button on the controller.
The combos feel very natural. Where in some fighting games we don't get the most out of a character because we don't know all the moves by heart, as a beginner in Injustice 2 I was able to get started fairly quickly with Batman, for example.
Once you're done with the story mode, however, the offline fun doesn't end yet, as Injustice 2 features another major mode, the Multiverse mode.
In this mode you will find several daily, weekly challenges, and even challenges that refresh after a few hours.
As a result, there is always something to do in Injustice 2. These challenges are presented as an infinite number of alternative Earths from other universes. Each earth has its own characteristics and situations that you have to overcome.
If you succeed, you can unlock credits and new gear for your characters. In addition, this is also the perfect mode to level up your character, because all gear items have a minimum level that a character must have in order to use them.
Fortunately, the characters level up quickly when you use them in any mode.
