Inkscape is a quality SVG editor that runs on Linux, Mac and Windows systems and can be used to create or edit vector graphics such as logos, diagrams, illustrations, graphics and anything in between.
Inkscape has sophisticated drawing tools with features comparable to Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW and Xara Xteme. You can import and export various file formats, including SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, PS and PNG.
It has a full feature set, a simple interface, multilingual support and is designed to be extensible, users can customize the functionality of Inkscape with plug-ins.
The editor provides flexible drawing tools and supports reading and saving images in SVG, OpenDocument Drawing, DXF, WMF, EMF, sk1, PDF, EPS, PostScript and PNG formats.
Now, the new update of Inkscape 1.0.2 is available and in this new edition the developers mention that they focused on improving stability, as well as fixing bugs, in addition to working for the MacOS version to improve performance.
What's new in Inkscape 1.0.2
During the preparation of the new version, special attention was paid to improving stability and eliminating bugs, including solving problems with text output and improving the normal operation of the rubber tool.
In addition, the announcement mentions that performance has been improved in the macOS version.
Among the innovations implemented, we highlight the appearance in the option settings to cancel the scale by clicking with the middle mouse button and prohibit the rotation of the screen for a separate document or all windows.
At the same time, alpha testing has begun for a significant new version of Inkscape 1.1, which introduced an initial screen of the app and offers basic settings such as screen type, theme and hotkey set, as well as a list of recently opened files and templates to create documents of a certain size.
Other innovations include:
Interface to search for settings by mask.
Pop-up window when clicking “?” a dialog box for entering commands that allows you to call various functions without accessing the menu or pressing shortcut keys.
A Sketch Overlay view that displays the outline and the drawing at the same time.
