3I use Ratchet's feet as an indicator for the line-up; they should be close to parallel with the green part of the door. Then, once I place the crystal down, I walk to see if I "slip" through it both ways. You jump as you begin to slip past the crystal, facing the elevator, and that allows you to clip.
