Inside the MLL: Recap of the Legendary Hurricane Games
The NFL has the Ice Bowl, Major League Baseball has the Earthquake during the 1989 World Series and now Major League Lacrosse had the Hurricane Semifinals. On August 24, 2011 Major League Lacrosse was scheduled to play two semifinal games. The Boston Cannons and the Chesapeake Bayhawks were to play at noon and Hamilton Nationals and Denver Outlaws were to follow. In the days leading up to the games a storm formed in the Atlantic Ocean and as the weekend approached it became clear that Annapolis would be in the path of Hurricane Irene. Despite the city being evacuated and the storm making landfall that day the two games were played as scheduled. A year later we asked the coaches and players to share their memories of that day.
