Welcome back to Durag Nation, where Insomniac Games keeps playing their tricks on us! Ever since Venom's SHOCKING reveal in the first Spider-Man 2 PS5 trailer, fan speculation about his identity has been rampant. From Harry Osborne to Eddie Brock, and even Peter or Kraven the Hunter, everyone's a suspect. But, after the release of the latest concept art and a confirmation that Eddie will NOT be Venom, fans thought they had a consensus. But they've been tricked. So in this video I will breakdown who is actually Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Firstly, Harry is not Venom. Remember, Insomniac loves to play with our expectations. Just like they hid the Sinister 6 in the Spider-Man PS4 promotion until the E3 demo, they're leaving clues to misdirect us. The post-credit scene from the first game and the Emily-May Foundation billboard in the new concept art might suggest Harry, but the evidence actually points the other way.
The symbiote in the post-credit scene hasn't bonded to Harry, Norman is still searching for a cure. If the symbiote was compatible, Harry wouldn't need to be in the tank. Instead, it comes to life when Norman touches the glass, hinting that Norman is our Venom.
But there's more to Insomniac's trickery. Remember, everything they do is intentional. They want you to think Eddie Brock is off the table, but remember there can be more than one Venom. Insomniac has already shown us this with the different Venoms in the reveal trailer and the new concept art.
The symbiote bonds with Peter to become the Venom that he and Miles fight. But who else gets the symbiote? Despite Insomniac's denial, I believe Eddie Brock will still show up, not as Venom but as Anti-Venom. The last piece of the puzzle? Peter himself. The spider-man 2 ps5 gameplay reveal hints at Peter slowly turning into Venom, with the suit "evolving".
So, Norman becomes Venom, Peter also becomes Venom, and Eddie Brock helps as the Anti-Venom. Insomniac has also teased the appearance of other Marvel heroes in the game, like Daredevil.
