Abul Kalam Muhiyuddin Ahmed Azad was an Indian scholar and a senior political leader of the Indian independence movement. Following India's independence, he became the first Minister of Education in government. He was born on November 11, 1888, at Mecca in Saudi Arabia. He was one of the core members of Indian National Congress and palyed an important role in Indian Independence fight against the British Rule. He passed away in the year 1958 on February 22, in Delhi, India. He authored many books and notable among them are: INDIA WINS FREEDOM, THE DAWN OF HOPE etc. He was awarded the highest Indian Civilian award - Bharat Ratna.
