Insurgency Sandstorm Beta Review

Hello and welcome to another video from me Box of Demons.

Many of you know we quite well now having supported me on a few other channels. And knowing me knowing you, you know I am a graphics and audiophile. When the opportunity to games into either performance mode or graphics settings at a lower grade framerate, well ill take the better visuals any day.

The footage you are looking at now is the Beta for Insurgency Sandstorm. I played the older game on a few occasions enticed in by my friends who wanted to play coop. I'll admit, I didn't like it.

The extreme aspect of this game was great, the weapons look good but the bland visuals never really sold me the immersion I wanted.

Games such as Escape from Tarkov, Squad, and some of the arma games modded added the visuals and audio that gave me that wow factor. It's no overstatement when I say this game sound frikken incredible, no seriously.. it sounds amazing.. things like .... and .... and...

The sound of an enemy gunship firing, or the sound as it falls to earth after taking an rpg round. The sound of the weapons reverberations in different environments and proximities to walls and rooms is truly beyond words in places. The audio also compliments the stunning weapons models which are up there with Escape from Tarkov.

Visually the new game has come a long way from its previous battlefield 2 vibe. It reminds me very much of Medal of Honor 2, another game I loved the audio and the visceral feeling of combat.

This is a beta so not everything is perfect, the character models feel a little weird when viewed and running, the pacing of the game feels a little fast to me. The non-ability for free look is strange when there are LMGs in the game and some animations feel a little clunky.

However, at £20 on steam, this is a no-brainer. It is hardcore.. you only need 1-2 decent shots to get a kill or be killed, enforcing cover and turning this into a it of a thinking mans game. No other game feels as visceral when you in a firefight, nades fly and so do body parts. Amazing indeed.

Airstrikes, gunships, Gas mortars, smoke, explosive drones, these are called in the commander who needs a forward observer next to him, they set the position by using binoculars, again this are incredible to watch and terrifying to be on the other end.. think a shower of body parts.

There is a major update on NOV 8th this month, which I will be covering in some detail. But for now, I can't want to jump back into the battlefield, in future videos I will cover different weapons and classes and a look at the maps available so far.
