Intel are not out of the fight yet, and are preparing to unleash a plethora of Coffee Lake processors for the desktop. The I7 as you would expect features 6 cores (given it's coffee lake) and 12 threads, but Intel are making sure that the lower end SKUs don't have just four cores and are bumping up even the I5 to 6 core processors, minus the HyperThreading.
