Into the Pit - WH40k: Chaos Gate - Gameplay Review and Explosions
You could completely be forgiven for having missed the hype train on the latest Warhammer 40k product to hit the streets, Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, a very tight mashup of Firaxis XCOM, HBS BattleTech, a little bit from Gollup's Phoenix Point, and more than a little bit of DNA from the original Dawn of War.
Normally I play my games in silence far from the wanted haunts of man, but today I decided to do something different. Grey Knights? Check. Bellyful of spaghetti? Check. Most of the normally expected let's play stream toys hooked up? Check. Let's go.
Come with me on a truly cinematic (in the sense that they won't stop making you watch the movie) tutorial followed by some grade-A boom boom as we try to drive the Knights in their dilapidated ship, recently hijacked by the Inquisition, into something like a good time.
Spoiler: I had a great time. I look forward to having more great times with this game.
If you just want my review and thoughts, because you're a mad person who cares about nothing except what I think, skip to the last chapter marker and I think you'll be pleased. Everybody else, start at the beginning and the strap in for the show.
There's a good chance that my Apothecary has the highest kill count.
