Coming late October 2023. The everything computer. Optimised.

With 2–3× the speed of the previous generation, and featuring silicon designed in‑house for the best possible performance, we’ve redefined the Raspberry Pi experience.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced the launch of the Raspberry Pi 5, the latest and most powerful model of its popular single-board computer. The Raspberry Pi 5 boasts a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4 GHz, a VideoCore VII GPU with dual 4K60 display support, and up to 8 GB of RAM. It also features a new RP1 southbridge chip, designed in-house by the Raspberry Pi team, that provides improved USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet performance, as well as a PCIe 2.0 connector for expansion cards.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is compatible with most existing Raspberry Pi accessories, including cases, cameras, displays, and HATs. However, some HATs may require software updates to work properly with the new board. The Raspberry Pi 5 also has some new features that make it more user-friendly and versatile, such as a built-in real-time clock, a power button, a fan header with mounting holes, and faster and dual camera connectors.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is available in two variants: 4 GB and 8 GB of RAM, priced at $60 and $90 respectively. A 1 GB variant will be released later this year, followed by a 2 GB variant in early 2024. The Raspberry Pi 5 will go on sale on October 23rd from the official Raspberry Pi store and authorized resellers.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is expected to be a game-changer for makers, hobbyists, educators, and professionals alike, as it offers significantly better performance and wider peripheral support than its predecessor. Whether you want to use it as a desktop computer, a media center, a retro gaming console, a robotics platform, or anything else you can imagine, the Raspberry Pi 5 can handle it with ease.
