Building a security program is like playing a game of chess. An organization's security architecture is the chessboard and the game pieces are security controls, policies, and guidelines. To use all of these components to keep an organization safe, a security architect must have a well-rounded background and understanding in security engineering, intrusion detection, red teaming, and collaborating with others outside of security.
