iRacing - A First Time Video
2Borrowed a friends account because he hated iRacing so much he deleted it from his Hard Drive so I installed it and will use the rest of his month to do comparisons to rFactor and other Racing sims. I refuse to spend a penny to try this sim. The $12 per month, $12 per car and $15 per track are too much for a casual racer who doesn't fuck a give about rules and comradery and fair competition. I am just here for cheap thrills and the cool hardware folks.
The very start of this video is the very first time out driving in iRacing. I had no idea about the babysitter that doesn't let you clutch 90% and change gears. You have to hold it down for at least a half second fully for a gear change to take place. And when coming to a full stop you don't need to clutch at all because it will do it for you no matter if auto-clutch is on or not. I also found it odd that I did not need to leave my shifter in gear at all. I could just touch it into gear and then return my shifter to center. This meant I couldn't just pull out of a gear to attain neutral. I would have to press an assigned button for neutral a bit of a cheat if you ask me going from one gear to another without the transitional period. It also didn't recognize my shifters X- axis as a reverse toggle, but that is expected in most games.
