The Calpheonians call this area the Black Desert, the Valencians know it as the Red Desert, a testament to the rivers of blood spilled there. Both lay claim to the desert’s resources . Both are ready to wage war for it.
Your guide through this war-ravaged land is the Black Spirit, an enigmatic being whose destiny is entwined with yours. Together you will search for answers, uncover the hidden secrets of the Ancients through the history and lore of Calpheon and Valencia and unravel lost memories and the secret of the Black Spirit.

Combat in Black Desert utilizes every button on your controller. To enter combat, you will first need to draw your weapon pressing the Right Stick down. Once your weapon is drawn, you can use combinations of the triggers, bumpers, X, B and A in order to perform skills. You can also add skills to your ring menu which will allow them to be triggered by pressing the D-Pad.
You can check the combination for skills in the skills menu. From there, you can upgrade your skills (costs energy when not talking to a trainer), lock your skills (meaning they will not be performed) or just find out the effects of the skills.
