I was given a code to review this game, Falcon Age is essentially a game that gives off a lot of action RPG vibes like Zelda but in a small form, The game play is basically hold A on objects or enemies to have your bird collect them for you or attack enemies, swoop at enemies, collect items, gather resources, drop grenades.

There is very light puzzle solving which was so light I don't think I can call it puzzle solving, you can pet the bird or feed it to get it back to health, and then as the player character you have a baton stick you can bash enemies with, and it has a whip that you can use to pull things closer to you, stop enemies from targeting you, pull the lever things, etc.

There is a shop to buy stuff like cosmetic upgrades and food recipes to make that give u buffs and increase health, now for the story there you start the game in a jail doing simple tasks to open up the story and setting of what life is like and give motivation for why the rest of the game happens, you have your auntie character who leads your side of things and ends up being the leading motivator to push the story along, its a story about big corporations pushing the little guys around and the people rebelling.

Now unfortunately I didn't have a lot of fun , I experienced constant pop in of visuals, and inconsistent graphical quality, some areas look way better then others and far too often I'm looking at the same boring basic rocks and seeing endless orange... there were times i look at a huge view at the top of a mountain and its unfortunate that the height scale wast utilized more as that was truly a jaw dropping moment for me and I only felt like it was truly taken advantage of once. You can clip through lots of stuff and if you turn it does a full 360 turning causing issues across the board often finding myself having to move in my play space to be close enough to do the cooking. One part i was able to just walk through the rocks to get past an obstacle. the music sounds great but the very limited amount of voice acting was unfortunate given the massive amount of dialog characters have. often with just a a few lines from a few major characters, I feel like even lesser voice actors would have added to the value. I am not some amazing voice actor but I think I could have read the lines for some of this stuff and added major value in that aspect, the reading got very boring. So my experience overall was one of ups and downs that overall felt so middle of the road I didn't care much about the experience I was having.

The combat wasn't fun, I struggled with the controls constantly, there is no physics just the same animations over and over again. It really doesn't even matter if you fight the enemies u can just walk past everything in the game if u want just pet the bird near the main spots so u can disable the electricity and open the door. I think the game would have been so much better if they had this grind to collect loot in these areas and then just had one big hub town u upgrade and such but they went with this story thing and maybe its the shortcomings of the quest hardware but I think they lacked the budget or time to make the idea they were trying feel great. if there were better physics to the combat to make fighting the robots more entertaining I could see promise but that's my biggest issue... very little of the game was actually entertaining for me, the text parts go on and on forever...

I was excited to play this and I think the bird is really entertaining, maybe just skip the story after u get the whip and just go around collecting resources and buying up everything in the shop that would be entertaining I think, overall I cant say that I would recommend this as a purchase unless your newer to VR and want something with more basic game play as I didn't enjoy the game much. When I got to the credits I was relieved I didn't have to play anymore but even the ending felt half baked like they just kinda end it.
