Recall is a new feature coming soon to Windows PCs through a post-launch update. It allows you to search and revisit your past PC activity by capturing screenshots of your screen periodically.
Key Features:
Timeline Exploration: Recall creates a timeline of your PC usage, allowing you to browse through past activities by date and time.
Natural Language Search: You can search this timeline for specific content, including text and images, using natural language queries.
Revisit Content: Recalling past activity can take you back to the original application or website where you saw the content (if applicable).
Interact with Snapshots: "Click to Do" functionality allows you to interact with content within the captured screenshots, such as copying text or opening images with other applications.
Privacy Controls: You have control over which apps, websites, and browsing activities are captured in snapshots. You can also choose to exclude sensitive information filtering.
During initial PC setup (for Copilot+ PCs)
Through Windows Settings - Privacy & Security - Recall & Snapshots
How to Use Recall:
Open Recall with the keyboard shortcut (Windows key + J) or taskbar icon.
Verify your identity for secure decryption of saved snapshots.
Search your timeline by keywords or browse through the activity blocks.
Select a snapshot to interact with the content using "Click to Do".
How to Manage Snapshots:
Set the storage limit for Recall snapshots.
Delete all snapshots or those within a specific timeframe.
Pause or resume saving screenshots.
Exclude specific apps and websites from being captured in snapshots.
Privacy and Security:
Microsoft prioritizes responsible AI and privacy in developing Recall.
Snapshots are stored locally on your PC and encrypted using Windows Hello.
You can control which information is captured and filtered based on your preferences.
Overall, Recall offers a powerful way to revisit past PC activity, search for specific content, and interact with it in a user-friendly way.
