45 hours, and 7 cut USB Micro-B cables later, I finally have the gimbal running on the drone's own power source, and not by a wall adapter.
This was accomplished with the mentioned buck connector circuit in the last video. I dialed it into 10 volts, more than the 7.4 minimum, but unnecessary to waste efficiency going up to 12 volts.
The cabling is a mess and I'll be ordering new wires to butcher because most of the cables I had were just charging cables, and were missing the 2 data wires. Without them, I cannot control the camera from the controller, and have to rely on the dodgy "Ophelia GPS" app which doesn't seem to communicate well when I tell it to record, take pictures, etc. Only reliable as a viewfinder.
Didn't get it ready in time to record on my trip to the UP to help my dad, however the fall colors were mostly done anyway.
