It's Simply The Best - The BT Brawler64 for Switch & PC
0Retro Fighters is a company that makes some of the best third party controllers out there. The Defender is my daily driver PlayStation controller for retro systems, the Duelist is one of the best for the Switch, and the original Wired Brawler64 was the best option for the N64.
Today, I'm looking at the brand new Bluetooth NSO edition of the Brawler64, a controller tailor made to take care of your Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack gaming with the N64, as well as being usable on PC with Steam. Huge thank you to Retro Fighters for sending the controllers over for me to review. I'll be unboxing the controllers, running it through five games on Switch Online, and then against an awesome Star Fox 64 inspired flight game called Ex-Zodiac on Steam.
I DID run into a weird little bug when pairing the controllers - when I had both controllers plugged in to charge and pair, one of them showed as a standard Pro controller, causing the button mapping to be super weird. But - easy fix: just pop into your controller settings, go into Change Grip/Order, and re-pair them, and they'll show up as N64 controllers rather than Pro controllers. Might have just been a one-off issue for me, but figured I'd let ya'll know that there's a workaround if you run into it. :)
