Instant While Standing (iWS) tutorial for Tekken 6. In this tutorial I cover how to perform a textbook iWS as well as a "sliding" iWS movement.

The is the first video in my Tutorial Series. To view the above tutorial without voice-over dialog: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB84j2bxfRA

Hi, this is Tyler2k and this is my first video in the "Tutorial Series".

So what is iWS?
Simply put it's going from standing to crouching to standing as fast as possible. This allows characters to do WS attacks without forcing them to go to full crouch first.

So how do you do it?
In Tekken 6 this is performed as d,d/f,n. Basically we'll be doing a qcf motion but not completing the final forward motion, instead we'll be allowing the joystick to return to neutral.

Now we'll see iWS in practice.
I'm gonna turn down audio for this clip so if you'd prefer to see the clip at normal volume and without voice-over dialog, be sure to click the link below. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB84j2bxfRA) Here I'm demoing iWS motion as d,d/f,n but in Dragunov WR+2 combos it's easier to perform as "sliding" iWS motion. I perform the "sliding" iWS as d,d/f and then slightly delay the neutral 4. I do this by rolling the joystick to the d/f position. This gives Dragunov's iWS+4 a little more range to make the follow up combo easier to land.

As with most Dragunov combos, forward buffering makes them much easier to land.

While it's not necessary to perform a "sliding" iWS, you should be aware that you'll be required to do a deeper dash prior to the motion.

Here's some footage of me messing around with both iWS as well as "sliding" iWS. I've also thrown in a couple of "practical" examples from past videos. You can diferentiate the two as a sliding iWS has a bit more range and as such takes longer to come out. Where as an iWS is much quicker with much shorter range. A good excercise would be to try and distinguish between the two by my hands alone.

If look like what you see, be sure to subscribe as I'll be releasing new tutorial videos every few weeks.
