Welcome to the world of Jade Caccoon

This game is will always hold a special place in my heart. In 2003 my grandfather passed away and me and my family packed up for a long road trip across the country to be at his funeral. I have a big family but was never connected very well. (Details in my Dear Final Fantasy video) We stayed with some family for about a week and thats when I met my cousin Thomas for the first time. He was much older than me but we both loved video games. He showed me a game called Jade Cocoon and I fell in love with it.

Jade Cacoon is the video game version of that super foxy girl you met at summer camp as a kid and had a fling with. You fell in love head over heals only to face the inevitable doom of summer ending and you both returning back to your seperate schools making voms and promises to keep in touch despite you both knowing that each of you will fade off into time as a beautiful but short lived memory.

Jade Caccon is a 15-20 hour powerhouse of a JRPG that has long been forgotten.

Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu (Japanese: 玉繭物語, Hepburn: Tamamayu Monogatari, lit. "The Story of the Jade Cocoon") is a role-playing video game developed by Genki exclusively for PlayStation. The game combines elements of role-playing video games and virtual pet management. It was developed by Genki in collaboration with Katsuya Kondō, character designer for the Studio Ghibli movies Kiki's Delivery Service and I Can Hear the Sea.

Jade Cocoon is set in a world where most of the land is covered in dense forest; populated by bizarre, mostly bug-like monsters called Minions. The only safe havens are small villages, one of which is the home of the protagonist, Levant. Levant is a young Cocoon Master, whose job is to capture and purify the Minions. The Minions can then be used to fight and defend Levant, spun into silk for money, or fused with other Minions to form more powerful combinations. As Levant captures more minions, his "Capture Level" increases, allowing him to capture monsters more easily.

Fused minions take on physical characteristics of both their parent creatures, allowing the player to customize the appearance of each one, and their abilities. Each minion has a collection of elemental attacks which can be passed from generation to generation. Strategy generally follows a rock/paper/scissors pattern (Wind beats Earth beats Water beats Fire beats Wind), as each wild Minion has an element (although fused Minions may have more than one).
