The lightning mole is a medium-sized subterranean animal featured in The Precursor Legacy. They were featured in the mission "Herd the moles into their hole", during which Jak had to chase them back into the holes using the A-Grav Zoomer. They were reportedly scared out of their holes by a band of robbers in the Precursor Basin. They were initially discovered and subsequently researched by the Geologist, who rewarded Jak and Daxter a power cell for herding the moles back underground.

Lightning moles, despite their name, hardly resemble moles as much as they resemble squirrels. They have red, velvety fur, large dark eyes and two protrusive front teeth. Their ability to run quite fast comes from their strong hind legs. According to the Geologist they are as "blind as bats",[1] and presumably rely on their sense of hearing to detect danger. This may explain why the A-Grav Zoomer was so effective at herding them as they could likely hear it approaching.
