I sat down with director Danny Boyle and actor James Franco for an interview for their new film "127 Hours." Franco gave one of the best performances of the year playing Aron Ralston, the real-life canyoneer who resorted to cutting off his right arm after being trapped under a boulder near Moab, Utah for 5 days.
Franco has always been a great interviewee (I enjoyed talking to him for "Milk") and Boyle, one of the best directors of his generation, is insightful. We talked about:
• The challenges for Boyle in going from the populated city of Mumbai for "Slumdog Millionaire" to the claustrophic canyon for "127 Hours."
• What did he see in Franco that made him the best Ralston?
• How did Franco prepare for the role both physically and mentally?
"127 Hours" opens Friday, Nov. 5th, make sure to watch this fantastic film!
