34It's my birthday today! AND it's also the end of the semester for me! This time I'm covering a pop song by Jay Chou!! I know it's not my usual VGM cover but I love this song a lot. It's one of my favorite songs of all time. I really wanted to cover this song on my birthday. It's so touching and beautiful. I really hope you enjoy it!
PHEW the school year is finally over. Honestly speaking I wasn't in the right mindset recording this cover. I really wanted to get it super good because this song means so much to me, but I kept making mistakes over and over and over again. It led me to get more and more frustrated. Yep... definitely not my most polished recording. However, I'm realizing that it's okay if it's not the most accurate. Towards the end of my recording session, I ended up just recording one final take and just telling myself I'm going to use this one. And that was the one I ended up using haha.
People have been reposting my covers and many of the comments say things like I can't play in tune. And yes, I know my intonation is not consistent, but those comments still get me. I have to remind myself that the point of these covers is to have fun! Playing in tune is not the biggest priority haha.
It's been a good year! It was the year I started uploading on this YouTube channel again. I moved to Baltimore to go to a new school which was really scary for me. Truthfully, I was pretty miserable in the beginning. I found it really easy to get stuck and focus on the negatives. It was only later when I realized that there are still so many positives. I would always say that I had no friends in Baltimore, but that really isn't the case at all!!! Even though the overall environment is pretty competitive, there are so many kind people I met. I'm grateful for all of you!
Now that school is over, I'm looking forward to spending more time on these covers! I am traveling a lot this summer, but I will find a way to do this!!!
