♫Jeremy Ng - Random Sketch No.9♫

My first 'serious' original composition! In E minor! Was improvising around when I came across this melody (opening 2 bars) that I just couldn't get out of my head for some strange reason. And then I went on to writing the rest of the piece... If I were to consider this composition a 'serious' one, then I must most certainly have it penned down! I'm actually pretty satisfied with how this has turned out, both composition and performance. :)

This is in 'ABAB' format with a tiny coda. 'A' is lyrical and melancholic with a quiet chordal accompaniment while 'B' is fiery and agitated with more movement in the LH. There is a classical ic - V - i chord progression at the end, something I'm definitely familiar with but hardly used in my own playing. I thought it sounds pretty neat there. There is however, one chord that I'm not so familiar with, of which I'm glad I managed to make use of! It's the bII (F major) at 0:09. I also especially love my use of chromaticism in the melody at 1:00. It really makes the 'B' section sound agitated, doesn't it? :D

Although titled as a Random Sketch, I actually think this and my Random Sketch No.5 (https://youtu.be/wxEfPXmEA70) could be considered complete original works. Sheets are available!
