This is a concept album inspired by the soundtracks for various Japanese fishing games from the 1990s, particularly the Reel Fishing/FISH EYES series. I admired how great they were and how they managed to create a kind of tranquillity that suited the ideal of fishing, so I decided to try and emulate that as best I could.

I played around with various styles and genres to keep things from getting too samey, and used the fact that I had a solid musical direction for once to take various tunes I'd composed and flesh them out. I hope you enjoy these, and feel free to use the music for anything you like - so long as you credit the source and the composer properly. Thank you.

Special thanks to the COOLT, the official thorhighheels discord which inspired the creation of this album, and to the various folks on there and the World Animation Discord for listening to draft versions and providing feedback.

All tracks composed and arranged by Jim McGrath (FrDougal9000/Apollo Chungus)

NOTE: All of the music is inspired by various feelings and ideas, often born from listening to other pieces of music. I think this is perfectly fine to do, especially if you happen to be caught for time/inspiration and need something to give you a direction no matter how blatant it may be. It doesn't make you any less of a composer.

But if it's possible (and you don't have to deal with paying rights fees and all that), it would probably be a good idea to cite your inspirations. Both for the sake of fairness, and so people can listen to those inspirations - perhaps finding new music to enjoy that they'd previously never have heard.

I can't cite all the inspirations that come subconsciously or from a million things being crashed together, but I can at least say that the following tracks have elements I can clearly place as having come from elsewhere.

Track 1 - Goldfish:

"Woolly Welly Thoughts", composed by Ronnie Hazlehurst for the 1997 album "Last Of The Summer Wine: Original Music From The TV Series"

Track 2 - Jellyfish:

"Theme 6", composed by James Hannigan(?) for the 2010 video game "Art Academy"

Track 3 - Rainbow Trout:

"Passing Breeze", composed by Hiroshi "Hiro" Kawaguchi for the 1985 video game "OutRun"

Track 6 - Gourami:

"Rain", composed by Yuzo Koshiro for the soundtrack to the 1999 video game "Shenmue"

Track 8 - Seahorse:

"The Spice of Life", written by Tracey Thorn for the 1984 album "Eden" by Everything but the Girl
"Flower Garden", composed by Koji Kondo for the 1995 video game "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island"

Track 10 - Oarfish:

"Lady Marian", composed by Ciarán Brennan for the 1984 album "Legend" by Clannad

Track 12 - Haddock:

"Woolly Welly Thoughts", composed by Ronnie Hazlehurst for the 1997 album "Last Of The Summer Wine: Original Music From The TV Series"
