When I was a little boy in elementary school in the 90s, the only time I could play computer games was in the school computer lab. And one game ruled them all: Jones in the Fast Lane.
This retro PC life simulator (developed by Sierra in 1990) was basically The Sims before The Sims existed! The goal was simple: get a job, study, pay rent, earn money, graduate from college, buy a house… you know, “win at life.”
As kids, we thought this was the blueprint for success. Competing with classmates to see who could achieve their dreams first was both hilarious and intense. Of course, reality later taught us that life is NOT this simple… but that’s what makes this game so nostalgic and funny to revisit today.
Join me as I take a trip down memory lane and review this 90s PC gaming classic, a Sierra masterpiece that blended humor, strategy, and competition in a way no modern game quite captures.
